Teresa Speer

Rocking Speer Ranch, LLP is veteran owned and operated by Joshua and Teresa Speer. Teresa medically retired from the United States Army with over 6 years of honorable and faithful service. Following her military service, she moved to Richland, Missouri in 2018. Upon establishing herself in Missouri, she began training horses through the natural horsemanship method.

In December of 2021, Teresa earned her associate degree in Equine Sciences, Training, and Stable Management. Teresa received interdisciplinary training in animal science, business, horse training and behavior, policy, and human resources. The education and skills she learned from her degree prepared her for the rigors of training these magnificent creatures. Her unique ability to communicate with horses provides an uncanny understanding of their behavior, physical health, and the means to manage different horses across multiple disciplines.

In October of 2022, Teresa competed in her first World Finals Series with the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) and has since double qualified for the NBHA World Finals as well as the Better Barrel Racing World Finals. Teresa specializes in colt starting, foundation horsemanship, and performance horses, with a strong emphasis on creating willing, confident, and fundamentally sound horses. Since the inception of Rocking Speer Ranch Horse Training Services, Teresa has provided training for horse owners across multiple disciplines including trail, performance, desensitization, and tune-up horses. Teresa also provides horse education for clients through literature, social media, clinics, and hands-on experiences.

Since 2022, Teresa has embedded herself within the horse community. She has trained under veteran barrel racers from the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA), National Finals Rodeo (NFR) finalists, and accomplished reining professionals while continuing to seek mentorship and continuing education opportunities to broaden her experience and training tools.

In February 2023, Teresa became a Wellness Partner with That Others May Live (TOML) and a Horse-set Service Provider for Bemer Group, USA. In May 2023, Rocking Speer Ranch, LLP signed on with Rafter S Arena and Select The Best as part of their Professional Horsemen Program.

​

In June 2024, Teresa was accepted into and attended Josh Lyons Trainers' Academy. At the academy, she was Certified in Colt Starting and Accredited in Performance under the direct tutelage of Josh Lyons through the Lyons Legacy Program.

​

In 2025, Teresa was honored as the Southwest Missouri Reining Horse Association Rookie Professional of the Year and became an NRHA Professional money earner, further establishing her reputation as a versatile trainer dedicated to “Foundation First, Horsemanship Always.” Teresa attended the 2025 International Hoof Care Summit.

​

In 2026, Teresa attended the Josh Lyons Trainers Clinic in Festus, Missouri.
